Hope to the hopeless

"O God, what's this nonsense? Couldn't she have told me before she left the house? In fact, I'm just tired", those were the thoughts that ran through Chinelo's mind when her mum interrupted her breakfast with a phone call. She hated it whenever someone distracted her, her mum was aware but  was the number one breaker of Chinelo's protocols. She had forgotten her cheque book and  had called her to bring it to the First Bank close to their house so she could make some transactions.
" But mum, I have not had my bath and I'm still eating. Besides, I can't wear clothes on my dirty body and come there" she ranted out. Nothing changed, it didn't matter to her mum. Instead her mum's deeper tone fuelled in a fiercer reason for her to get to the bank in no time. Out of anger, she had better clothes on and left for the bank.
She finally got to the bank, her mum collected the cheque book, appreciated her and bid her farewell(because of her facial expression). I wished the nightmare could be the word to describe her way back home. Two men adjacent the route she passed through crossed to her side of the road, she began to pant. She tried as much as possible to be swift in her steps just as she also tried to  ignore the side comments from the men but the other pedestrians made her plans abortive.
"Could it be that the devil orchestrated my day" she thought.
He grabbed  her hands. One of her thoughts had suddenly turned out a reality that had flowed to her face to depict a fearful facial expression. They spotted fear. Fear was what propelled them to take advantage of people, she could definitely not be an exemption. They carried her to an uncompleted building and finally the deed was done. She was raped!
Chinelo managed to get out of the building after a long time of tears. She felt dirty! She had heard of cases where young girls were raped but she never imagined it could happen to her. With tears still  rolling down her cheeks, she  got home. Her parents were waiting outside the compound with worry written all over their faces. She began to sob the more. This time a lot louder. They  tried to ask her what was wrong but shame dominated her ability to speak out.
After several months of staying quiet, she summoned courage and finally resolved to telling her parents. She felt the world was over for her, she could no longer return to school, she'd carry a bastard and no man would ever want to marry her but her parents encouraged her. They made her know that even if she carried an unwanted child, it  wasn't the end of the world.
Many of us have been in situations that seemed discouraging. Some have failed examinations, lost their jobs, been robbed, lost their relatives, been involved in accidents, been betrayed or accused falsely but it doesn't mean the world has come to an end for you. You might have been at the point of success only to experience a pitfall but that's not the end of life. God is real and his words are true. When we call upon him in times of trouble he will answer us.The truth is that  we live in a fallen world but as believers we walk through challenges with our father, this means we will always win.
When there's no way, God our refuge always makes ways for us in ways that seem impossible in humans' eyes. In Psalms 46: 1, the Bible explains who God is by saying He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Why not turn to God today in any situation you're facing, for he is the only hope to the hopeless.
